Nowadays, many people want quick fixes. The desire to get fit fast and lose weight in a short period of time is a popular goal - but one that can actually be very hard to achieve. People don’t like waiting a long time for results – they want to see the benefits now. Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can get fit in a short period of time. Whilst results should not be expected overnight, the right eating and exercise routine can help lay a foundation for a healthy and fit life.
1. Don’t expect too much too soon
Whilst you might want to go from zero to hero in three weeks, that might be slightly unrealistic. If you’re completely unfit and want to lose weight and compete in sporting competitions like marathons, it’s probably going to take quite a lot of work. Most personal trainers and dieticians recommend a long and sustainable regime, one that you can stick to that will gradually improve your fitness over time. That can sometimes be hard for some to take, and people want results fast. Even if the eventual goal might take a while, you can lay a good foundation by changing the way you eat and the way you work out for the better.
2. Get plenty of exercise
Obviously, if you want to get fit fast your going to need to exercise, and lots of it. There’s no way around this. Getting fit requires hard work and within reason, the more exercise you do the better. You never want to overdo it, but someone who goes for a 10 mile run every day is going to get in shape much faster than someone who does a 2 mile run once a week.
3. Eat the right food
If your goal is to lose weight as well as get fit, you might be tempted to cut down dramatically on the amount you eat. While this can help you shed some pounds, the reality is that if you’re doing a lot of exercise you’re going to need to eat a fair amount to provide your body with energy and help repair muscle. In saying that, make sure you eat the right foods. Working out for hours shouldn’t allow you the luxury of over-indulging out on fast food regularly, you need to cut that sort of thing out of your diet almost completely. Provide your body with healthy energy and fat burning foods. Fruit and unprocessed foods are normally good for you.
4. Take supplements
The health and nutrition market is huge right now, and it can be hard to know what you should or shouldn’t be taking. Some fitness experts say that you should keep things natural and avoid supplements, whilst others couldn’t live without them. Make sure you know what you’re taking and have checked with your doctor that it’s right for you – but some supplements can really help achieve your goals.
